Keeping to my promise to actually update this on a regular basis, I thought I'd make another post, as I'm unable to sleep in this hot weather we're having here.
One of my goals includes regular poker study. I want to up my work ethic! I'm really not sure I've ever put in much work at my game. I'm quite sure I read more books in my first 6 months as a player than the last 3 years. That's just not good enough, and is probably the reason I've made very slow progress. I want to put an end to this laziness once and for all. I'll be reading more strategy in the forums, and I'll be taking a closer look at my sessions, trying to fix leaks I've known about for some time, and also unearthing new leaks that I'm positive are in my game. should be fun :)
I've just read some stickies in the uNL micro forum on 2+2, I thought it was gonna be aimed at the absolute beginner, but there were actually a few gems in there. Some interesting thoughts on how to deal with loose aggtards, who never fold to 3bs, and continually float. I've been having a few problems with them recently, I've been thinking of ways to handle those situations, and what I've been reading kind of confirms that I'm thinking on the right lines of strategy.
Every piece of advice I read lately is aggression, aggression, aggression. The game has changed a LOT in the last few years. People say everyone's solid...I'm not sure I agree with that notion, but one thing is for certain....everyone's aggressive!
I plan to make some changes over the next few months, I'm not nearly as aggressive as I could be, my game is more about reading hands, sensing when people are strong, and getting away when I think I'm beat. I'm good at folding hands that others wouldn't, I think I'm better at controlling the pot size than most micro regs too.
But I need to work on using that hand reading ability to push people off hands more often. This is my number 1 priority right now. I'll work on non-showndown winnings and fighting for a few more pots, instead of giving up on the small pots, I'll look to place a few more +ev bets in spots I know are profitable. I just need to trust my poker instincts more and trust that people are able to fold once in a while..haha.
I read something very interesting about non-showdown winnings recently. It's not always about running huge bluffs, there are other ways to improve that side of my game, and I plan to implement a few of the things I've been thinking about over the next month or so. Hopefully it'll result in an icrease in my bottom line, I'm not one of those people that constantly worry about redlines etc. I'm more about pure profit, but if these adaptions can help my profit, then that'll be ideal. It might simply just change the way I make the profit, rather than increase it, but a bit of experimentation of my postflop playing style can't hurt, hopefully it'll open my eyes to a few things that'll improve my game.
Just saw this on youtube:
I honestly don't think I've ever looked forward to a show more than this one. The dancing alone is enough. They've actually changed the title now, it's called 'An Idiot Abroad.' I think it should be called 'The 8th Wonder' haha.
